With gut issues like small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), prebiotics can worsen symptoms by fueling bacteria in the small intestine, increasing bloating, gas, and discomfort. In contrast, a dog gut health supplement with targeted probiotics may help rebalance microbes, reduce harmful species, and support the gut barrier without feeding the overgrowth. Strains like Saccharomyces boulardii and certain soil-based spore-formers are less likely to drive fermentation and may crowd out problematic microbes while calming inflammation. For this reason, we don’t include prebiotics in our formula.

Yes. It is vet-formulated and safe for dogs of all ages, including puppies building a strong microbiome and seniors needing extra digestive and immune support.

Q. Can this help my dog with anxiety or aggression issues?

Primitive Probiotics™ includes GABA-producing LP815, clinically shown to reduce anxiety, improve mood, and promote restful sleep, making it ideal for anxious or high-string dogs.

Q. If my dogs has taken or is taking antibiotics, when should I give Primitive Probiotics™?

If your dog has recently finished a course of antibiotics, give Primitive Probiotics with meals to help rebuild and restore the microbiome. If your dog is currently taking antibiotics, administer Primitive Probiotics at least 4 hours before or after the antibiotic dose - never at the same time - to ensure both work effectively.

Organic pumpkin fibre is a whole-food digestive superfood. With both soluble and insoluble fibre, it supports nutrient absorption, regular stools, and a balanced gut environment where probiotics thrive. Rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, pumpkin also nourishes the gut lining, calms inflammation, and strengthens immune defenses. Unlike isolated probiotics that can trigger SIBO, pumpkin is gentle, effective, and biologically appropriate, making it the ideal partner for probiotics.

Sprinkle the recommended amount directly onto food or a snack once daily.

For dogs with sensitive stomachs, start with half the suggested dose for the first few days and gradually increase to a full dose.

If using during antibiotic therapy, give the probiotic at least 4 hours before or after antibiotics to help protect beneficial bacteria. (based on 1 Billion CFU per 1.5 g serving)
