Steve's Real Food freeze-dried whitefish food is formulated with Pacific Cod, Pollock, Rockfish, and Salmon that are sustainably sourced in North Pacific waters. White fish is considered a novel protein, making this fish-based dog food a good choice for pets with allergies or food intolerances to other proteins. It's a BARF formulation composed of 80% meat/organ/bone, 15% produce, and 5% value-added ingredients such as New Zealand Green-Lipped Mussel, coconut oil, and raw goat milk. White Fish is complete, balanced for all life stages, and appropriate for dogs and cats.

Our fish are sustainably sourced from the Pacific ocean. Like commercial-grade sushi, the whitefish is flash frozen at -40C to ensure parasites are eliminated. The produce is sourced from the Pacific Northwest, and our goat milk comes from a family farm in Gaston, Oregon. Steve's Real Food is committed to working with family farms that share our belief in sustainable farming free from added hormones, antibiotics, GMO’s, and pesticides

If you have never fed raw before, you may be surprised as you watch your dog's health improve while they transition to a healthier diet. It's important to be aware of how much you should be feeding your pet. When you feed your pet a raw food diet, they will often require less food than if you were to feed them a kibble/grain-based diet, because the food has so much more nutritional value. There are a few factors that will affect the recommended amount to feed your pet, such as age, activity level, and weight goals. We use the bodyweight percentage rule, which estimates feeding amounts based on the weight of your pet. For example, if you have a 5kg adult poodle, then you would want to feed them 2.5% of their body weight, which is 125g (daily). 5kg x 2.5% = 125g Body Weight Percentage

Recommendation: We suggest that you feed your pet the following percentages based on their activity and weight goals.

Pet’s Activity Level % of Body Weight to Feed Grams to Feed for Every 1kg of Body Weight
Overweight .... 1.5% .... 15g to feed for every 1kg of Body Weight
Average Activity .... 2.0% .... 20g to feed for every 1kg of Body Weight
Above Average Activity .... 2.5% .... 25g to feed for every 1kg of Body Weight
Weight Gain Goal .... 3.0% .... 30g to feed for every 1kg of Body Weight
Highly Active .... 3.5% .... 35g to feed for every 1kg of Body Weight
Kittens, Puppies, or Pregnant .... 4%+ .... 40g to feed for every 1kg of Body Weight

Weight indicated here is the dry weight of the freeze dried nuggets - before adding warm water to rehydrate the food before serving. Keep in mind that our feeding guidelines should be used as a starting point. Some large breeds have lower food requirements than average, and some active breeds need more food than their weight would imply. You know your pet better than we do, and you can adjust from this model as you feel best.

Doing Raw Food Better

All of the meat and poultry are free range and fed a species appropriate diet. We do not use any antibiotics or hormones and all animals are humanely raised in the northwest. All of our produce is also from the northwest, making Steve’s Real Food a locally sourced product.

We work with partners that are committed to the environment and practice sustainable farming. We believe it is crucial that there are no corners cut when it comes to quality of ingredients and commitment to Mother Earth.

Only fresh, raw, minimally processed foods can provide all the essential micro-nutrients your pets need for a long, healthy life. In order to provide your pets with a naturally healthy diet, we source clean, whole foods from trusted farms that are committed to the quality of foods they produce. We focus on superfoods such as coconut oil, kelp, and seeds to make each bite rich in micro-nutrients, vitamins, and enzymes. We also follow the biologically appropriate raw food model and use an 80:20 ratio of meat-to-produce to ensure that your pets are getting a nutritionally balanced diet that is easy to digest.

It is 100% complete and balanced, made from only the most superior ingredients on the market. We are so proud of the ingredients we use that we gladly share who we buy from so you can have the same level of confidence as we do.
